Youth Recreation

Youth Recreation has always been important to Gillam-Grant.  Getting out and enjoying a friendly sport with friends is important for youth development. Recreation is a great way for youth to gain the experience of working on a team. 

Summer Co-Ed Youth Soccer League (Non-Traveling)

Please consult the chart above to determine your child’s division (based on birth year).

Looking for a fun time? Youth soccer not only helps with a player’s skills and player development but also promotes leadership skills and team building. It does not matter if your child has a lot of experience or none at all, the youth soccer league has a spot in the program for them.   Multiple divisions are available for your player based on skill and age. Divisions are available for ages 3 to 11.  All divisions start in May.  Divisions include:

  • 4 Years Old – Little Kickers
    Is open to ages 3 & 4. Players must be 3 by April 1. Little Kickers practices and games take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays Program runs from May to June.
  • 6 and Under Division
    This program is open to ages 4 to 6.  Practices and games take place on Mondays and Wednesdays.  May to the first week of July.
  • 8 and Under Division
    This program is open to ages 7 to 8.  Practices and games will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays.  May to the first week of July.
  • 11 and Under Division
    This program is open to ages 9, 10, and 11.  Practices and games will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  May to the first week of July.

Summer Youth Baseball League
Our youth baseball program provides opportunities for all ages to participate in one of America’s favorite past times.  There are several divisions available for ages 4 to 12. Practices start in April or May. Those divisions include:

  • T-Ball:  ages 4 to 6 (must be 4 by November 30 of the previous year)
    Practices will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays
  • T-Shirt:  ages 7 & 8 (must be 7 by May 1 of the current year)
    Practices will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • Little League Minors: ages 9 & 10 
    Practices will take place on Mondays and Wednesdays
  • Little League Majors: ages 11 & 12 
    Practices will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Program Registration

Winter Youth Basketball League
This league is open to boys and girls between grades 3 to 8, with dates and times to be determined by individual coaches. The divisions that we have available include:

  • 3rd & 4th grade
  • 5th grade
  • 6th grade

Byron-Bergen Sting Travel Soccer Team
Travel soccer teams for boys and girls ages 8 and above.


Isshin Ryu – Martial Arts Program

Karate, a martial art, promotes physical fitness and gives improved coordination. It builds confidence and self-esteem. The program includes conditioning exercises for stamina and strength. Karate promotes discipline and mental focus and is a fun activity for the whole family.  Open to students ages 5 and older, teens and adults. At the B-B Elementary School Gym and Cafetorium. Supervised and instructed by Hanshi Cyndy Jones. Class times are listed to the left.

Adult Fitness Programs (Update from Newsletter)

Our adult fitness programs are available for anyone over the age of 18. Our programs are always changing and improving,  please check out our newsletter for our latest offering. Listed below are the current fitness programs that are being offered.

  • Mixed Yoga – Yoga is designed to increase flexibility, build strength, and melt away tension. Yoga is a great way to exercise, linking breathing with movement. All ages & levels of experience and fitness welcome. Certified Instructor: 
  • PiYo Live!MAKE A POWER MOVE. PiYo combines the muscle-sculpting, core-strengthening benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility of yoga movements.  You’ll perform a series of high-intensity, low-impact moves that will work every single muscle. No weights. No jumps. Just hardcore results! Bring a mat, water bottle,  and towel.

  • Indoor CyclingWHY CYCLING?? You will define and lean out your legs. Go at your own pace so beginners are welcome. It’s indoors so you can go all year round. It’s weather proof so no excuses! And the icing on the cake? You will enhance your cardiovascular fitness and burn a large amount of calories in one class. Weak joints? No problem, these classes are low impact! Bring a towel and water bottle.

     


Program Registration

Program Registration Policy

Register online or by phone (494-1621) or in-person at Gillam-Grant Community Center. Registration and payment with GGCC is required one week prior to the program unless otherwise indicated. GGCC reserves the right to cancel programs for any reason including lack of participation. Decisions to cancel classes due to low enrollment are made one week prior to the start date. If a class within a given program is canceled, Gillam-Grant will make every effort to reschedule the class on a similar day, at a similar time. If this is not possible, the class may need to be made up on a different day and/or time. Gillam-Grant adheres to a no-refund policy unless otherwise indicated specific to a program.  Gillam-Grant reserves the right to charge a $40 returned check fee.
